Moonstone

As we start this new year it is only appropriate to spotlight a gemstone of new beginnings - the Moonstone.
This is one of my favourite gemstones, not just because of its beauty but because of its feminine energies and strong connection to the moon.
The Moonstone is the gemstone for those born under the zodiac signs of Cancer, Scorpio, Aquarius and Pisces.
It is easily obtained and most people are familiar with the white and cream coloured gemstone, however it available in yellow, blue and green.
Spiritually the Moonstone promotes intuition and empathy, it encourages lucid dreaming, especially at the time of the full moon, and it enhances psychic abilities and clairvoyance. It’s most powerful effect is that of calming the emotions.
You can use this gemstone to draw out old emotional patterning by placing it on the solar plexus (a chakra point along the line of the body). When placed on the solar plexus, the patterns can be understood and then dissolved. The Moonstone provides deep emotional healing.
To help with insomnia, create an elixir (a liquid) using the Moonstone. To do this place a cleansed, solid Moonstone in a glass bowl with spring water. Stand the bowl in sunlight for twelve hours. Remove the crystal and drink the elixir. If you wish to keep it for more than a week, add fifty percent brandy or vodka as a preservative. Botttle it with an airtight stopper and store in a cool, dark place. You can also add the elixir to bathwater.
There is so much more to this beautiful gemstone but I do highly recommend that it is one you should add to your collection.
Here’s to new beginnings!

Where can you purchase the Moon stones? And are they really expensive? Thanks!
Hi Joanne, thanks for stopping by and asking your question. Generally you will find all kinds of gemstones at new age stores/bookstores. Without knowing your area, I suggest that you look around for a store that promotes tarot reading, candles and alternative products. As for the price it will vary based on the size of the gemstone. When you go to buy one, hold one in your hand and close your eyes to see if it ‘feels’ right - ask yourself “is this the right gemstone?” If your immediate reaction is “no” then put it back and try another. When you buy it, ask the shop assistant if they have information on cleansing your gemstone as this is important once you get it home. If not, let me know and I’ll post that information on here. Good Luck!
