By Modern Goddess Magazine • Category: Features, Give Back
All around the world people will be holding functions, raising money and volunteering their time to Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Did you know that…
- 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer by the age of 85.
- Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women.
- The incidence of breast cancer is increasing.
To help raise awareness for breast cancer, sites all over the net are going Pink for October.
What else can you do?
- If you’re in Hong Kong you can participate in a Breast Cancer Awareness Walkathon on the 26 October 2008.
- If you’re in Australia you could host a Pink Ribbon Breakfast or a Girl’s Night In.
- If you’re in the US you could help raise funds for the Pink Ribbon Challenge. Their aim is to provide free mammograms for underserved women.
- If you’re in Canada you can participate in the CIBC Run for the Cure or other activities they offer.
- If you’re in the UK you can attempt one of the various Challenges they have on offer.
Early detection is so important and it saves lives… I encourage you to read the information available through the links and look at becoming ‘breast aware’. Go have a breast examination or learn to self examine. Encourage family and friends to become breast aware.
PS: If you’re in another country and would like your fundraisers mentioned, please feel free to email me the details and I will definitely update this article.
